Texas Bluebonnets and Indian Paintbrush

The bluebonnets haven't reached their peak yet, but there's plenty of Indian Paintbrush to be seen. Now I'm really excited for the bluebonnets to start popping up even more! I'm going to try to take pictures of them this week.

And by the way, there was this one farm that had SO MANY FLOWERS on their hillsides. Unfortunately, I didn't get to take photos of them. There was one place on the side of the road to pull over to, but in order to get back to that spot you'd have to do a dangerous U-Turn.

And I really didn't want to take photos from their driveway. That just seemed rude and discourteous to me, so... maybe another day. Their house sat on some beautiful property, and those lucky folks even had Oreo cows!

And speaking of cows.... one of our neighbor's cattle had ANOTHER baby this weekend. It's been staying close to it's Mama. When my mother saw it yesterday morning, that Mama cow was protecting her baby from the other calf's curiosity. Mom said that that Mama cow head-butted one of the calf's by a few feet.

The new calf was playing at the time, and the other little one's just wanted to join in.

So now we have FOUR babies next door!

Meyer Cemetery Road

By far my LOTTERY destination. If we won the Texas lottery today, we would definitely be landowners in that area by tomorrow. (A lot of the pictures posted above were taken there).

It's so beautiful up there that it feels spiritual. Truly, words cannot describe how wonderful it feels to visit that area. I hope the people that do live up there don't take it for granted. They are so fortunate to be surrounded by such beauty.

I'm even jealous of the cows that live there. After all, they certainly have a lovely landscape to gawk at day in and day out.



Doesn't that one house, seen 45 seconds into the video, remind you of Green Gables?





Darn it, but my camera battery just had to die on me just as one of the cows started to say Hello! (34 second mark)

Well, at least I got the first half of his conversation on film.

Bluebonnet Hills

I still love this neighborhood. It has some lovely views and just carries a really happy vibe. I noticed that there are a lot of new houses there nowadays, and I'm happy to see that.



That white house in the first video (10 second mark) is one we seriously thought of buying at one time. It had an amazing backyard, but the house would have needed a lot of updating. Still, to this day I like that house a lot. It would have been a showstopper if we had bought it.

Also, see that brown house 19 seconds into the video? It used to be painted a pale blue, and one time we got to see the inside of that one, too. I've always loved that house, but the day I actually got to see the inside of it... well, it was just strange. First of all, the weather that day was the coldest and windiest I'd ever encountered back then, and yet the carpenter that was working inside the kitchen had every single window open inside that house. When I saw him, he looked at me like a deer caught in headlights.

Long story short, we found out that the house is haunted. (Which is why I imagine the guy looked so frightened and had every window open on such a miserably cold and blustery day). The real estate agent told us that the water is always turning on when she's there, and during our visit to the house - before we were even told that it was supposedly haunted - there was just such a creepy, uninviting vibe. (Complete opposite of how I'd always felt about the house before, when just driving past it). It took several minutes for us to even get inside one of the rooms. The door refused to budge open, and once we finally got inside... I felt like I had to get out of there and was intruding.

Also, and this is strange in retrospect, but after the agent told us about the stuff that had been going on there I remembered how SO MANY TIMES the battery to my video camera would shut down whenever I was filming the house from the car. (I always took the video camera with me on trips up there, and that really was my favorite house at the time. I even put it in my first book that I wrote).



The house - on 3 acres - in the video above (from the 30 seconds mark to the end) is one we wanted to buy a long time ago. It was a GREAT deal at the time, and the view there... priceless. The camera can't even begin to capture how high up you are there.

I never got see the inside of that house, but it's worth it for the 360 degree views alone.

The farm in the above video (21 second mark) is the one I was talking about at the beginning of this post. I really wish I'd gotten to take pictures there.

Once we got home from the antiques show, Abby was a happy girl because she was allowed to bring her flower bucket inside the house. She's so silly!
